Senior Slave Day

Seniors are getting sold this week they’re going to take turns on getting sold, in lunch. East Nicolaus students are excited to get their seniors to do their every day school labor. Students and staff are going to be able to dress, and decided how their senior wants them to act like.

“I’m going to make my senior get me lunch, do my homework and carry me around,” says a junior student from East Nicolaus, Sara Sullivan.

The “owners” make their slaves do many ridiculous things, like last year they made their slaves dress up as animals, others made them dress as their opposite gender, and some were just dressed ‘different’.

“Student slave day wasn’t appropriate” says a teacher from East Nicolaus, Mrs. Geach. The name had to be renamed to ‘student servant day’ because ‘slave’ was inappropriate because the seniors were not slaves but just serving their owners.  One of the problems for senior servant day is that the purchasers don’t pay, and the senior class could have sold them to another purchaser.

Lydia Reynolds says “it’s funny to see what others make the seniors do”.

In lunch the seniors are going to be in the middle of the quad, standing waiting for someone to bet on them. Seniors can be bated from a dollar to more than a hundred. “Not so sure, there’s too many to pick,” says Sullivan. Students have an idea who are they willing to bet on, others not so sure, but they know that they want to get a senior so they could finally the opportunity to boss a senior.

“It brings school spirit and helps the seniors with their senior trip,” says Geach.

With the money they fund it goes to the seniors for senior sneak. The seniors try to get as many fundraisers so they won’t have to pay an exaggerated amount of money, also they try to fund money for Grad night, were seniors get prizes for their new lives as a college student. Seniors make different types of funds all year long, but this one is one of the last ones they will do.

“I can’t wait to mess with my senior,” Sullivan adds.
